Hmm. I’ve been watching pro wrestling longer than some of you reading this have been alive. According to family members I first started watching with my brother around 1988. And yet the only time I stopped was after Bret got screwed over (well, that, and I didn’t have cable tv) until a promo with The Rock and Foley among many more brought me back in early 2000 (and I just started stealing cable).

Being a fan has payed off, since it brings my family close (my father, brother, and cousin are all fans) and I have something to look forward to watching on tv, which is rare nowadays as I only watch essentially five television shows.

Like most of my other posts, there is no point to this, other than I couldn’t post this on twitter due to its character limit. And here characters welcome.

Bret Hart (2007)
Lord, he has actually signed to WWE!  I can only wonder what type of condition he’s in nowadays.

He’s the Hitman. He’s too smart to undermine his return. The dude is probably working his ass off working out and dying those locks by Jan 4.

Top 10 WWE Matches of the 2000s

ringsidereview:

Gave this a lot of thought.

I loved that Formspring question about top 10 matches of the decade. A big thank you to whoever sent that. You unleashed my rabid, obsessed, insane fanboy mark. Let’s do this thing.

Top 10 WWE matches of the 2000s:

10. Chris Jericho vs Chris Benoit - Ladder Match, Royal Rumble 2001
You’ll notice Benoit appears a lot on this list. Deal with it. He dominated the decade in terms of watchable matches. This ladder match features two excellent performers going out, and attempting to steal the show from the Rumble of all things. The Rumble had a great run earlier in the decade, absolutely sealing its place as the #2 PPV of the year.

9. Randy Orton vs Mick Foley - Hardcore Match, Backlash 2004
Everyone thought this was gonna be Foley’s swan song, and he sure made it look like it was. He pulled out all the classic maneuvers, and a young Orton held his own. Great, violent, bloody stuff.

8. Triple H vs The Rock - Iron Man Match, Judgment Day 2000
I didn’t think they could pull this one off. These two for sixty minutes? I had my doubts, but they did it somehow. Plenty of falls helped, HBK was your special ref, and this was the debut of American Bad Ass Taker. Very memorable.

7. Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit vs Rey Mysterio and Edge - No Mercy 2002
Best straight up tag match I’ve ever seen in WWE. This was the debut of the WWE Tag Team Championships, and this match alone made those straps seem valuable. False finishes galore, and all four men left everything they had in that ring. Go and watch this sometime.

6. Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle - WrestleMania 21
Tremendous showing by the 2 greatest in-ring performers of this generation. Near falls, false finishes, and HBK threatening to pass out in the Ankle Lock.

5. Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit - Royal Rumble 2003
Technical showcase unlike anything I’d seen up to that point. A marvelous showing from both. I always mark for the Ankle Lock being reversed into a Crippler, and vice versa.

4. TLC II - WrestleMania 17
Spotfest! Good times. Remember when the tag division was the hottest division around? I don’t need to sell you on this match, right?

3. Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker - WrestleMania 25
A bit high because I was there? Maybe, but tough. Best WWE match of the last 3-4 years, easy.

2. Shawn Michaels vs Chris Benoit vs Triple H - WrestleMania 20
I still get chills watching this one. I don’t have to tell you why.

1. Triple H vs Cactus Jack - Street Fight, Royal Rumble 2000
This was the only given heading into this list. I could watch this match once a week, and not get tired of it. If you haven’t seen this, go do it now. I’m serious. This match kicked my ass.

Still working on top 10 of 2009. You know what #1 will be, but this year hasn’t been spectacular, so it’s proving to be difficult.

Bleeding excellent list. I’m marking out, legit.

…seriously? That was today… 11-2.
I was RIGHT NEXT TO CITY OF INDUSTRY. WHY, GOD, WHY?!

I was driving around the 60 earlier, too. Damn.
Frank & Sons and I go back about thirteen years. I would attend those nerd shows maybe monthly with my brother or my dad. I thought it was neat not waiting every year for Comic-Con to scavenge through quarter bins looking to complete my rising comic book collections. I finally stopped attending regularly when I completed my collections. That’s right, completed. My bastard children will be wealthy.
Other guests in the past have included comic book superstar and damn nice guy Rob Liefeld, Rey Mysterio (missed him —back in ‘01), RVD was practically a regular, and many other former and then-upcoming WWE and TNA wrestlers.
Frank & Sons nerd show is held every Saturday morning in Industry.

My take is first of all that we have Tribute to the Troops on Saturday. That’s probably going to be a much better show than whatever that TNA is going to put on. I have a lot of friends that work there and I do watch the show, but I seem to watch it on perpetual fast forward.

I hope, I really hope that something comes of it. I have zero faith in Hulk Hogan as a man who is what 60 years-old and tries to dress like he’s 18 and lives on the Jersey Shore. For a guy I’ve never met, I’ve formulated enough opinions about him just from being around him and like his business acumen and stuff like that, I really trust that he’s not in this for TNA and he’s not in this for the business. He’s in this for himself.

CM Punk

That quote is chock-full of awesome

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Bret Hart has signed a short-term talent contract with WWE that will go into effect on January 1st, 2010, and expire a couple weeks after WrestleMania 26. This makes it very possible that he will be guest hosting the January 4th edition of WWE Raw when it goes head-to-head with TNA Impact. Additionally, Bret could feasibly make further appearances for WWE if his contract is in fact as long as the report indicates.

Wowzers.

Let’s do a DX and Hart Dynasty feud!

Holy Fink. I don’t know what to think of this. This is big.
