I’m editing a trailer for a film which might never be completed, while listening to AFI.
sweet.

maintaining a music blog that never gets updated has cool advantages. I get lot’s of new music from new bands/artists. Best of all, thye sound great, and are going through the effort of contacting poeple online to listen to them, in addition to touring their asses off. Kudos to these new groups, you are teh future of music.
Now, let’s go to the present, with established artists releasing the new shit… in my opinion, there’s just some I don’t like. I don’t like the new Jay-Z. The new Weezer sounds weaker and lamer then their most recent album. I’m not even going to bother discussing the new Snoop Dogg or U2.
Many successful artists find themselves a comfort zone after making it big with lots of hits. The artists I mentioned above, with the slight exception of Weezer because I honestly believe are batshit crazy, are in that zone. They’re winging it, phoning it in. Meanwhile, they shill products or go on massive stadium tours, and remain successful, critically. Unless you’re Depeche Mode, they… just break my heart.
There is so much good, very good, new, very new music not available at Best Buy or Wal Mart, and that… is such a cool feeling. And you can find it and buy it all online.
P.S. I have been drinking wearing my Clark Kent costume from Friday night…
having no time to find/create a decent comic book-related costume, I settled for the most convenient —and now regretful choice: Clark Kent/The Blur from Smallville.
I feel dirty. Yeah, it was so easy to make, but that wasn’t the point. The point was, dressed like that, I don’t understand why Clark on the series would wear such a garb.
The series was originally planned a s a young Bruce Wayne tv show, with teen Bruce working at Arkham and acting emo and shit. The producers couldn’t get the Batman rights, so they got Superman/Superboy tv rights and thus Smallville. But the last few seasons, they made sure to have Clark’s stupid alter-ego “The Blur” come out at night like Batman, have him terrorize bad guys and become an acknowledged vigilante like Batman, and for reasons not explained six episodes onto the new season, have Clark dress up in jeans, black boots, a black coat and a black shirt with a gray \S/ as an emblem.Oh, and he acts emo and shit.
No bueno, man. I’ll explain why Smallville sucks another day, but man, it didn’t feel good dressed like that.
I’ve never been anything scary for Halloween, as long as I can remember. I’ve always been ladybugs, or pumpkins, or a princess, a couple times I was a witch, but not a scary witch, I was a pretty witch. I had a skeleton costume once, but I didn’t wear it on Halloween, I’d walk around my house dressed as a skeleton, trying to run away from the dog, or scare my neighbor in July or something. Despite my love of horror movies and zombies, and dead things, and general creepy shit, I’ve never been anything scary. I spend all the time hiding a monster, so why would I want to be one? I feel like Im kind of missing out. but at the same time, if I put on a scary costume of fake rotting flesh, and torn away faces, and monsters, and crazed people, and whatever, people would just see right through it, and realize it’s not a costume. That Im just as rotten as that costume, and Im just as scary as that monster in your nightmare. So I hide in plain sight. On Halloween I just elaborate.
very interesting.
I’m re-reading about every Green Lantern comic I own (thus explaining my sporadic posting) and with the “holiday” looming, I figure to give my two cents in on this (trust me, it’s very relevant). After I’m done with this ish, of course ;)
Also want to add the scene in Batman Returns which all of Gotham City’s elite are having a big costume ball, and Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle are the only folk that didn’t wear a costume. Goddamn, that’s just gold!
not much to say today, except traffic will suck in nearby Pasadena due to the huge U2 show at the Rose Bowl (100,000+ people!).
I’m actually looking forward to tonight’s WWE Braging Rights PPV, will hope catch it tomorrow. If you enjoy pro wrestling like I do, follow The Ringside Review right here on tumblr for everything WWE …brother! On that note..
Hulkamania will run wild in Hollywood again this Tuesday as the Hulkster visits Larry King Live to plug his new book, and probably his upcoming AU tour against Ric Flair. I don’t like Hogan one bit dude, and I only mention this because it’s local.
This weekend my pal Jeff and I helped our friend Nikkia move to Hollywood from Goleta. Very cool. Also, as we were unpacking Friday night, we ran into former Howard Stern Wack Packer Larry Melrose Green. He’s an, um, interesting cat.
If you don’t like U2 but you’re in the Pasadena, CA area tonight, come join my brother and I tonight at The Four Seasons Tear Room for a special event: a recreation performance of the 1938 Orson Welles/Mercury Theatre broadcast of War of the Worlds! I’ll be there tonight enjoying English tea and lil’ sandwiches. Show starts around 5 pm.
To quote good ol’ Mick Foley: Have a nice day!
I can feel my skin dissolve into bits… 32-bit Windows Vista, to be exact ;)
After two straight days of hanging out with friends and getting delightfully drunk, I am not ready to return to the internet yet.
Sorry tumblr —real is so much better.
***
P.S. I forgot TNA Wrestling are in the area for their Bound For Glory PPV live over at the OC tonight. Oops.
Yea, I’m going back to sleep for about two more hours, then another long day of trekking ahead… I’ll post more music/comic book crap when I find the time.
Formally hosted on blogspot, this blog begins with two topics: Los Angeles + music, how they have affect each other, and how they both have effected me.
The majority of my posts here will be based on music; established artists and well-known songs, and new bands who you really need to here because they are cool, daddy-o!
This blog will updated more frequently than it’s predecessor; I will attempt to post at least daily (taking advantage of tumblr’s daily hosting), multiple times if I can find a new, free, file host, or if the songs are already hosted. Case-in-point: In four years I achieved only one hundred posts. Unacceptable.
I also have two tumblr blogs I fiddle around with on an ongoing basis: captaincook, my personal anything-goes blog, and comic books! my comic book -related blog.
Because I am a fucking nerd.
I hope you enjoy this, as I have a feeling I will enjoy doing this a lot ;)

Hey everyone, I’ll be reblogging the first two posts from my new, but old music blog blogging away in LA. Scroll down for some hot dance music! ***************************************************************
So it’s come to this.
I’ve been posting more music over at my tumblr blog than right here. I’m sorry, but aside from reading friends blogspot’s I spend more time on tumblr.
Not to say tumblr is perfect, but I do get a more ‘community’ feel out of using it. You can ‘like’ and reblog other posts, and follow people, and they can openly follow you! The major downside? It gets slow and the downtimes are constant. But when it works, it looks cool.
By the way, I am no longer listed in The Hype Machine, which is with merit as I haven’t updated this blog in a long time now, mainly due to several factors which I would not like to get into right now.
To the bands, groups and management who reached out —thank you and I promise to get back to you all on the new blogawayLA.com —though until the process is complete it’s called:
http://blogawayla.com
Thank you and thanks to blogger.com for four very awesome years together. I’ll post one last time here when the switch is official…
